U P D A T E March 24 Saturday

We find ourselves today in Penita, Mexico, about 1 hour north of Peurto Vallarta. Nice rv park up on a hill overlooking the ocean, with MANY gringos, most of whom are leaving tomorrow to beat the influx of 1000 + vacationing Mexicans expected to arrive soon. We are heading north early in the am tomorrow for Mazatlan, and then Los Mochis where we plan to leave the RV to go on two side trips.... one to go on the Copper Canyon train trip, overnighting in Creel, and the other, to take just the car over by ferry to Baja to check out Cabo San Lucas for a few days. Weather continues to be terrific with highs in the 80's and nights down to 60's.

Dozens of Frigate birds occupied a telephone line in Penita MX.

Acapulco

We did Acapulco a for 3 days .... really crowded and touristy. Exceptional views of bay area - but you can not see these because I can't find them!

In Peurto Angel, we took a ride on a mini van to go to boat for snorkling... it was crowded- 21 people, we sat on the floor!

CAR REPAIRS......Mexico's ruthless roads!

The roads in this country are real rough on cars... one pix below shows a repair being made - first of TWO tires needing replacement in THE SAME DAY!

Puerto Angel ...... our favorite stop of the trip to date!

We finally made it to the PACIFIC COAST of Mexico!

U P D A T E

Marked a full three months on the road, three weeks of which have been Mexico. Winds had been too much for any dive trips till yesterday - Bill finally got to go out with the diveshop at the campgrounds..... Ilea stayed behind to socialize with our numerous interesting international neighbors. Now have had over two weeks of straight sunshine - daytime temps at upper 80's and nights at 70. YEAH!!!!!! Bill going cenote diving today for the first time - this is in freshwater caves and caverns .....as in underground! Met a fellow in a custom made small rig who is driving all the way to the southern tip of SOUTH AMERICA! We had planned on going to Mexico City to see a few things, but for one of those - visit to see Monarch Butterfly migration- it will be too late by the time we get there and they will have already flown the coop toward Canada. Just as well because the traffic and driving in Mex city is horrendous - ESPECIALLY for big RVs! So, heading toward Chetamul, and then up western coast where we will take a ferry to cross over to Baha pennisula.

A tough true vacation week spent at Paamul beaches -hour south of Cancun.

Bill ....checking out the action in Playa del Carmen....
